Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor I would like to ask about shortcut keys for Sage 50. I had several questions about it during my Sage exam. But I do not know all of it

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Hi Yulia, happy to talk about shortcut keys. What is your question?

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston Hi Yulia. What would you like to know?

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor Thank you. It is very helpful

Tracey Hunter
Tracey Hunter Is there any online videos we can use to help with the use of sage. I use it at home for my charity accounts. We done use sage at work

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor What is the best and quickest way to find list of them?

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor I know only 3 of them but I think there is more

Monika Ka
Monika Ka End are they the same as in sage line 50??

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Hi Tracey Hunter there are a number of help files and videos available inside the programme by selecting F1 to access the help files, you can go to ask sage articles via the web and also the sage youtube channel has a lot of videos on there as well

James Gilleade-Smith
James Gilleade-Smith I have looked into getting sage online. It asks for my business name but its only for study purposes. Do you have anything for studies at all?

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston Hi James Gilleade-Smith we can supply training disks. These last for 180 days and are based on the latest Sage 50 Pro

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston If you are referring to online I’m assuming you’re on SageOne? We do not offer anything for that. You can just put any company info to set up it doesn’t really matter and use for training

Rita Lees
Rita Lees How much do the 180 day training disks cost to practice using Sage 50?

James Gilleade-Smith
James Gilleade-Smith I am studying on sage one, but I am wanting to learn sage 50 too. I want to keep my knnowledge up to date. If say the 180 days run out and it is year after that before I land anything using sage. Is there an option to extend the 180 days. I am normally alright for a good while but after a couple of months not using it I may start losing the knowledge. Thanks

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston Hi Rita Lees please send me an email at rob@softext.co.uk and I will send you prices and options.

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston James Gilleade-Smith We can supply 3 different 180 day trials for the same version. That is the only way to extend. Usually after a year Sage will have brought out a new version so we should be able to send that to you instead and would act as another 180 days. I hope that makes sense?

James Gilleade-Smith
James Gilleade-Smith Thank you that has helped a lot

Fiona Brown
Fiona Brown Is there a way on sage 50 to de-allocate monies? The only way seems to be delete the transaction and start again which is not user friendly

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Yes – in 2016 you can unallocate transactions. here is the help file with a videohttp://ask.sage.co.uk/…/php.exe/enduser/std_adp.php…

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor I am struggling with nominal codes. It takes a lot of time to find certain one. Is any way to find them quick? For example when I do Petty cash payments

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Is then when processing Yulia Taylor?

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston Instead of selecting the dropdown and scrolling you can type the number in. As you start it will list all the nominals available in that number range

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor What If I am not sure about number, can I search by name? While I am on payment window?

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Yulia Taylor if you select the drop down and when it is open click the description rather than the code you can then start typing the name of the nominal to search for it

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor Oh brilliant. Thank you very much

Kari Lorraine Southcott-Peters
Kari Lorraine Southcott-Peters Oooh good to know!!! Thats been driving me crazy too thanks!!!!!!

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor Also it would be useful to know about error corrections (except journals and credit notes) on sage 50.

Nick Sage
Nick Sage what is it you want to know specifically?

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Here is an article around error corrections and improvements made in V22. If you have a read and have any questions then let me know.http://ask.sage.co.uk/…/php.exe/enduser/std_adp.php…

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor Thank you. It is useful and detailed

Zoe James
Zoe James Hi we are looking at moving payroll to cloud based. Are there any plans in place to increase your software to cater for 15+ employees?

Nick Sage
Nick Sage The long term roadmap for payroll is to look at cloud opportunities so watch this space. In terms of 50 payroll it runs to unlimited employees

Zoe James
Zoe James Thats what we currently use but want to go cloud eventually. Thank you

Kelly Paton
Kelly Paton Hi, is there a way to stop duplicate supplier invoices? I know if you’re doing a batch invoice and right the same ref it flags it but if it’s on a different day it doesn’t seem to highlight/flag it?? Thanks

Nick Sage
Nick Sage It’s not something that currently exists as you may want to put the same values on an order multiple times. You can add any ideas or suggestions to the wish list and our support team will look at it before making any changes to the product

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston I believe on the latest Sage it does flag a duplicate only if you enter more than one invoice with the same account, date, ref and net amount,

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Robert Hupston yes, if the same ref is used it will flag up but only in batch invoicing not the invoicing module

Tracey Hunter
Tracey Hunter I used to use sage x3. We couldn’t use the same order nor invoice number twice for the same client. I think it was written in for the company

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Tracey Hunter Yeah X3 is a completely different product and always heavily customised to suit the needs of a business

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Tracey Hunter you can look for possible duplicates in certain areas of the programme such as your transactions, VAT reports which can highlight potential duplicates to you?

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor I would like to ask about Sage 50. Does it cover all bookkeeping functions or for some options Extra program should be purchased. For example payroll functions

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Hi, Sage 50 comes in 4 different variants and depending on the functionality you need would depend which suited you best. We have a seperate payroll programme

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor Thank you. Where can I see descriptions of these variants? Can you please send me a link?

Natasha Everard

Natasha Everard I have my own bookkeeping company….and what would you suggest would be best software for multiple companies but single user?

Hide 15 Replies
Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston Hi. It really depends on the functionality you require. The variants of Sage 50 all cover single user, multi company but it comes down to functionality requirements after that

Natasha Everard
Natasha Everard Most of mine are sole traders but registered with VAT. I currently use VT Transaction +

Nick Sage
Nick Sage Yeah – I would echo that, it really depends on what you need to do on a day to day basis

Natasha Everard
Natasha Everard everything from bookkeeping to submitting the tax returns and their payroll.

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston Natasha Everard In Sage now you can submit your VAT returns direct to HMRC and It’s really easy to do.

Natasha Everard
Natasha Everard Would it better be cloud or stand alone copy?

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston Natasha Everard Payroll is different and you would need a Sage Payroll package to cover those functions

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor Very good question, Natasha. I am following it too

Natasha Everard
Natasha Everard Do the sage cloud software for Payroll and Accounts integrate well?

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston Ref Cloud – It comes down to personal preference. The SageOne cloud products are ok but lack all the functionality of the desktop range. Again it wlil come down to personal preference.

Natasha Everard
Natasha Everard I have a mac….thats my reason for cloud

Nick Sage
Nick Sage yeah mac and sage don’t go together at present without a 3rd party

Robert Hupston
Robert Hupston The only option (3rd party) other than cloud is to partition your Mac computer hard drive and install windows on there.

Natasha Everard
Natasha Everard Think is why it is gearing me towards cloud….

Natasha Everard
Natasha Everard When is Sage thinking of being compatible with MAC?

Yulia Taylor
Yulia Taylor Following this too

Nick Sage
Nick Sage That is a difficult question……because we are moving more towards cloud and instant access everywhere we may not develop a mac version?

Natasha Everard
Natasha Everard Sorry….it had to be asked 😉
